The name still renders to this very day, representing the gorgeous scenery that the county has to offer. Berkley County was temporarily incorporated into nearby Morgen County in 1863 during the breakaway from Virginia in the American Civil War. The county then regained its status in 1866 after it reestablished itself to its prewar days.
