The New Zealand Parliament (Māori: Pāremata Aotearoa) is the unicameral legislature responsible for the democratic representation of the people of Aotearoa-New Zealand. Formed in 1854 from the previous General Legislative Council, the parliament today consists of the 120-member House of Representatives and the King-In-Parliament (acting through the Governor-General-In-Parliament), sitting in the Parliament Buildings in Wellington.
