Upon ascension to the Prussian throne, Frederick II appointed his in-laws, the Ducal brothers of Wolfenbüttel, Bevern and Lüneburg; brothers of the Queen of Prussia, each making them a general. Leading several regiments, the Friderican-era Brunswickers would make a formidable foe on the field, striking fear into enemy's hearts with their avant-garde tactics and endless loyalty to their Duke and their cause- a tradition that would continue into the Napoleonic Era.
