Description
INFANTRIE-REGIMENT "PRINZ FRIEDRICH AUGUST" Raised in 1701 by Count Beuchling, becoming 1st battalion, later incorporating of 2 newer battalions of garrison troops, for its time till 1717 participated in the conflicts in Poland and Pommerania. At its peak the regiment held up to 3 battalions before reforms in 1778 reducing it to 2. Now in the Napoleonic wars, as a part of French created Confederation of the Rhine, Saxony was a member of it, the regiment got the title of 1st Prinz Friedrich August. The regiment is stationed in Leipzig, Eilenberg, Wittenberg until its disillusion and disbandment after 1813.
