Description
The 33rd Regiment of Foot, also known as The Duke of Wellington's Regiment, is a storied and esteemed infantry regiment with a rich history spanning several centuries. Forerun back to its formation in 1702, the 33rd Regiment has displayed remarkable courage and dedication in numerous conflicts throughout the years. Their well-deserved nickname, "The Havercake Lads," was earned during the Peninsular War when soldiers from the regiment were said to have killed Spanish cattle for food, using oatcakes as makeshift plates. This act demonstrated their resourcefulness and adaptability even in challenging circumstances.
