Description
"Walls of Sparta" 𝚲 Sons of Herakles At the heart of the Spartan state stood her citizen hoplites, the embodiment of its martial ethos. Bred for warfare, Spartans from noble lineage would be taken from their families at early youth to be subjected into a rigorous military training regimen until they were reborn as fully fledged citizens at the age of thirty. It was through this rigorous rite of passage from youth that propagated the legendary exploits of the Spartans. At Sparta's zenith, between the 6th and 4th centuries BC, it was commonly believed that one Spartan was worth several men of any other state on the field of battle. This belief was rooted in the unyielding Spartan code: "With it or on it," which was a testament to the unyielding devotion to courage, excellence, and self-sacrifice in Spartan society.
