Description
The 1st People's Rifles Battalion - TaNaKa (1) was an infantry battalion of the Pyithu Tatmadaw, formed in the post-independence era. As part of the Southern Command, the battalion was primarily engaged in counterinsurgency operations. It was notable for its fierce defense of Rangoon in the Insein Battle, and later central Burma, successfully repelling Kayin and Mon fighters , before being redeployed to Shan State to combat Kuomintang invasion and later taking part in major border security operations.
