The FMP is responsible for maintaining law and order, investigating offenses, and enforcing military discipline within the Bundeswehr. The main purpose of the Feldmilitärpolizei is to ensure the military efficiency and readiness of the armed forces by upholding discipline and professional standards. They operate both within military installations and in deployed operations, including on foreign soil during international missions. The FMP is comprised of both enlisted personnel and officers, with members receiving specialized training in military law, criminal investigation, detainee handling, traffic control, and security operations. They undergo rigorous physical and mental training to prepare them for handling various operational situations.
