Description
The Regiment commanded Duke Henry de Montmorency Governor traces back to 1572. In 1572 the Regiment of Montataire was created. It took the name of Regiment after its was reformed in 1585. It was retired on May 6th, 1598 with the remnants going to form the Chevalier de Montmorency Regiment on April 3rd, 1600. Then on April 24th, 1610 the regiment was resablished as the Antoine Hercule de Budos Marquis de Portes Regiment. This unit was reduced on June 23rd, 1610, restored on June 12nd, 1613 then reduced again on June 1st, 1614. In 1622 the regiment would be passed to Duke Henry de Montmorency where it would again be referred to as the Regiment. The regiment reestablished on July 15th, 1636 by Charles of Halwin who was given command with his lieutenant colonel being the Chevalier de Suze. CO: XO: SGT:
