Army of the Potomac _______________________________________________________________________________________ The Army of the Potomac was the main army in charge of the fighting for the Eastern Theatre during the Civil war. It was created on July 26th, 1861 and was so small at the time of its creation is was actually only the size of the average Union Army Corps. The Army of the Potomac fought in some of the most famous battles of the war and played a huge role in Civil War history.
