Description
The Nizam-i Jadid was a modernization program implemented by Persian ruler Fa th-ʻAli Šâh Qâjâr in the late 18th century. During the Napoleonic Wars, Persia was caught between the expanding empires of Russia and Britain, and the Nizam-i Jadid aimed to strengthen the Persian military and administrative capacities to resist foreign intervention. The program included the establishment of new military units with European-style training and equipment, the adoption of modern technologies, and administrative reforms.
