British Malacca ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Malacca was ceded into British rule in 1795 from the Netherlands, due to intervention of Napoleonic Wars. It was returned to Netherlands in 1818, and again ceded to Britain in 1824. Malacca was later incorporated into Straits Settlements in 1826. Malacca is a state in Malay Peninsula with long history, tracing back from the Sultanate era, later falling into Portuguese, Dutch and British hands.
