Description
The 22nd Active Battalion were formed before the hot summer of 1942 as one of the six original battalions of the newly formed Black Legion. The unit was formed from various companies of the original Black Legion, combat hardened from many a anti-partisan engagement. The Battalion was also comprised of a large number of local Bosnian volunteers whose families had been attacked or killed by local chetniks, seeking retribution for their deaths.
