Description

The Green Standard Army was the foremost and most commonly used collection of military units throughout the 3-century long history of the Qing Dynasty. Being the largest military organization available to the Emperor in Peking, it consisted of mostly ethnically Chinese, Tibetan, Uyghur, and Mongolian soldiers. It was junior in rank and skill to the Banner Armies, and functioned more as an internal security reserve force rather than an actual army. Despite this, the Green Standard Army came to win many battles and wars against the Qing's enemies, and cemented itself as a core part of the imperial military. FOUNDED: 1644 DISBANDED: 1911 ____________ ERA: Napoleonic EMPEROR: Wollockstein

Growth history is still building. We hold one measurement for this entry. A trend needs at least two, taken days apart — so this will fill in on its own rather than being estimated. We do not publish numbers we have not measured.
