𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐟 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 - 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧 "Willing And Able!" The 7th Riflemen Regiment, nicknamed the "Cottonbalers", was raised in 1812 and saw action during the Battle of New Orleans. The regiment was active in the American invasion of the Mexican heartland and the capture of Mexico City. They were first under General Taylor in Texas during 1846. They then transferred to General Scott's command and were seen at every major engagements from 1847-1848.
