𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗦•𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗔 ─ 𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗜•𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗜 𝗦𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗘•𝗔𝗩𝗗𝗘 📜 🎭 🎨 🌿 The Valerii were a patrician family, prominent from the rise of the Republic to the end of the Empire. Few gentes produced as many distinguished men, and at every period the Valerian name was constantly found in the lists of annual magistrates, and held in the highest honor. From 268 AD - 474 AD, thirteen emperors claimed descent from Valeria, including emperors Diocletian and Constantine the Great. 🕊️ Although one of the most illustrious families of Roman aristocracy, from the very beginning the Valerii were advocates of plebeian causes, sponsoring many important laws protecting plebeian rights. Not only did they produce some of the greatest generals and politicians, the Valerii were also some of Rome's most famous historians, poets and architects — outranking every other noble Roman family by virtue of their antiquity, consistent excellence, and familial contribution to Roman arts.
