Description
The 𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐲 family is a British noble family of Anglo-Norman origins. Their surname can be traced back to the 11th century, when it was brought to England during the Norman Conquest of 1066. Since then, the family has maintained significant land holdings in England, and in Scotland since the invasion in 1298. Through the generations, prominent branches of the family have occupied significant positions in English and then in British politics and military, particularly after the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and the involvement of the 4th Mxrquess of Scarsdale in the Invitation to William. The construction of the current family seat, 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, in Derbyshire, began in 1683 over the ruins of Donington Castle.
