Description

A Spanish unit stationed in Austria for the purpose of benefitting Habsburg interests. This independent company of foot was commanded by Ferdinand Caratti (Carrato, Corrady) It was raised in 1618 for Spanish service and taken over from it the same year. It would remain in Spanish pay. It consisted of Spaniards (likely Castilians). This company garrisoned at Vienna and later Budweis, it numbered 200 men in 1 company. In 1620 the company was at the Battle of White Mountain where the captain Ferdinand Caratti was killed during the fighting. Ferdinand acted as Buquoy's Quartermaster during the battle.
