Description
The Kingdom of Prussia was officially established in 1701 when Frederick I of Prussia, the Elector of Brandenburg, crowned himself as Frederick I, King in Prussia. This act marked the elevation of Brandenburg-Prussia to the status of a kingdom. Prussia became known for its disciplined and effective military forces. Under the leadership of Frederick II (Frederick the Great), who ruled from 1740 to 1786, Prussia became a major European power through a series of military victories, including those in the War of Austrian Succession and the Seven Years' War. During the Napoleonic Wars (1803–1815), the Kingdom of Prussia faced significant challenges and transformations. Prussia was initially part of the Third Coalition against Napoleon Bonaparte, and was extremely important for the ultimate defeat of Napoleon.
