Description
The House of Representatives (Māori: Whare o Raro) is the unicameral lower house of parliament responsible for the passing of law and supervising the work of government in Aotearoa-New Zealand. Formed in 1854 as part of the newly-formed parliament, the house has been the sole chamber of parliament since 1950, when the upper Legislative Council was abolished, and today its 120 Members of Parliament represent people from across the motu.
