Description
The 39th Infantry Brigade was raised in the wake of World War One as a conscript-staffed unit for regular trench warfare, however soon became notable for producing multiple capable commanders. The brigade has remained active ever since as an entity of the Arkansas National Guard, but repeatedly fought in major international conflicts requiring the Guards mobilization, including its presence at the Battle of Normandy, where two of its enlisted received Medals of Honor. The 39th has taken a heavier, mechanized role throughout the cold war and has served in almost all major conflicts involving the United States since WWI, but has been bolstered by conflicts in the wake of the Humanitarian Crisis.
