Description
The Carrier Air Wing Two or CVW-2 was established on May 1, 1945. Today's air wing composition is designed to allow for broad striking power hundreds of miles from the carrier's position, while providing defense in depth of the battle group through early warning and detection of airborne, surface and subsurface targets. The current U.S. Navy carrier air wing consists of 9 squadrons: Strike Fighter Squadron 2, Strike Fighter Squadron 113, Strike Fighter Squadron 147, Strike Fighter Squadron 192, Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 113, Electronic Attack Squadron 136, Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 30, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 4, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 78. CVW-2 is equip with 5 fixed-wing aircrafts consisting of F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-35C Lightning II, E/A-18G Growler, E-2C Hawkeye, C-2 Greyhound. And 2 Rotary-wing aircrafts consisting of MH-60R Seahawk, MH-60S Seahawk.
