Description
The regiment is descended from the "fänikor" that were set up in Skaraborg County in the 16th century. In 1613, these "fänikor" merged with others from the nearby provinces of Dalsland and Älvsborg counties and were reorganized by Gustav II ##### into Västergötland's large regiment, where eight of a total of 25 companies were recruited from Skaraborg county. Västergötland's large regiment consisted of ##### ##### regiments where Skaraborg regiment was one.
