Description
The Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum is Japan's highest and most prestigious order of merit. The Grand Cordon was established in 1876 by Emperor Meiji, with the Collar of the Order introduced on 4 January 1888. The decoration is conferred upon individuals in recognition of exceptionally meritorious service or outstanding achievements on behalf of Japan.
