Description
The Society of United Irishmen, in their native language the 'Éireannaigh Aontaithe', was a sworn association in the Kingdom of Ireland formed in the wake of the French Revolution to secure 'an equal representation of all the people' in a national government. A failed rebellion in 1798 saw the Society fight a long and grueling campaign across Ireland, culminating in the Battle of Vinegar Hill. Prior to this rebellion, the Society was roused into preemptive action when a French fleet appeared off the coast of Cork at Bantry Bay in 1796. Spurred by the hopes of a free Ireland, rebels flocked south to meet their French allies. This group aims to best replicate the Society in the years 1796-1798, with an authentic rank structure and uniforms accurate to the period. Will you answer Érin's call? Enlist today!
