The Awakening Family, 1963, Somewhere off the coast of California, Henry and Julia Awakening raised their family on a small island, far from the noise of the mainland. It was peaceful — gardens bloomed, the waves were steady, and laughter echoed from the porch each evening. While the world rushed forward, the Awakenings chose something older: simplicity, community, and quiet tradition. Henry spent his days restoring the old lighthouse at the island’s edge — “a light for anyone lost,” he used to say. Julia kept the home warm and the children learning. They believed in family. In nature. In things forgotten. But beneath the floorboards, there are journals. In the cellar, strange carvings. And on the wall behind the nursery dresser — something no one can explain: We are the holy of Elos. We are the blooded line. We are the Faithful, the Holy, the Family. Ask around and most will tell you the Awakenings were kind, if a little quiet. But some remember other things —flickering….
