Coogee Shipping Company ——————————————— “We’ll get you there!” The Coogee Shipping Company, Coogee Shipping Co, or more simply the CSC, was an Australian shipping company. It was founded at the advent of the local gold rush by a man who was known as ‘The Father of Coogee’ for the crucial role he played in the early development of Coogee. The company initially transported passengers and fresh fruit and vegetables between Coogee and Sydney aboard a few wooden sail vessels. This route soon proved highly profitable, as Sydney needed fresh fruit and vegetables for not only the growing township itself but also to feed all the people who were on their way through it. The company then slowly advanced from wooden sail vessels to paddle ships and eventually steamships, from which it grew and grew in both size and profits. The company would then go onto outlive its founder and survive up until WWII.
