Despite French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte's trade embargo on Britain via the Continental System, the Portuguese held up their end of their old alliance and continued to trade with the British. This causes Napoleon to declare war occupying the Iberian Peninsula. But the Portuguese refusal to comply with French rule would be seen as a significant turning point of the Napoleonic Wars, as Napoleon had to keep much of his Army garrisoned on the Iberian Peninsula, diverting full attention to his Russian Campaign. ⭐ 𝗗𝗘𝗨𝗦 𝗣Á𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗔 𝗥𝗘𝗜!
