Description
Most Foundation personnel never hear about Xi-8 unless something has already gone catastrophically wrong. Officially, Mobile Task Force Xi-8 specializes in containment recovery and site reclamation following large-scale containment failures. Unofficially, they're the people sent into places the Foundation has already written off. The task force was formed after the loss of an entire containment wing during a classified incident in the late 1980s. Multiple MTFs were deployed to recover personnel and neutralize anomalies. None returned. Weeks later, a small ad hoc team entered the site and emerged with survivors, critical documents, and several contained anomalies. That team would later become Xi-8. Unlike most MTF units, Xi-8 recruits heavily from personnel who have survived severe anomalous exposure. The Foundation publicly denies this practice, but the rumor persists. Many operators reportedly possess an unusual resistance to cognitohazards, memetic effects, and reality instability.
