Description

CityRail was formed on January 16th, 1989 under 'The State Rail Authority' (SRA) and operated passenger trains in the Sydney, Newcastle, and Wollongong areas. On January 1st, 2004, the SRA was superseded by Railcorp. On June 30th, 2013, CityRail dissolved and was replaced by NSW Trainlink (responsible for operating intercity trains to Sydney and regional trains in NSW) and Sydney Trains (responsible for operating trains in Sydney).
