"𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒑𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝑻𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔 | กองเสือป่า" ※ คำขวัญ: เสียชีพ อย่าเสียสัตย์ ※ . มีพระบรมราชโองการโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้จัดตั้งขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 6 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2454 กองกำลังกึงทหารอาสาสมัครทำหน้าที่อาสารักษาดินแดนเป็นหน่วยแรกในประเทศไทย มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อฝึกวิชาทหารให้กับพลเรือน เพื่อจะได้นำมาใช้ปกป้องบ้านเมืองซื่งยังดำรงอยู่ในสมัยล่าอาณานิคม ประเทศเพื่อนบ้านไทยได้แก่ พม่า ลาว เวียดนาม มาเลเซีย อินโดนีเซีย ล้วนเป็นอาณานิคมของชาติตะวันตกทั้งสิ้น ซึ่งกองเสือป่ากระจายอยู่ตามที่ต่าง ๆ ทั่วประเทศ เป็นกองกำลังช่วยปกป้องบ้านเมืองได้อย่างดี ซึ่งในเวลาต่อมาเกิดสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1 รัชกาลที่ 6 ได้ประกาศเข้าร่วมกับฝ่ายพันธมิตร . King Rama VI announced the creation of the Wild Tiger Corps on May 6, 1911, as a Volunteer-Paramilitary force. The objective was to create a territorial-defense force against foreign powers as neighboring countries of Thailand then had been colonized by the western powers. During World War 1, King Rama VI sided with the allies.
