Description
In 1808, the regiment was included in the west wing, second brigade of the army that was drawn together on the border with the still Danish Norway. The brigade entered Norway in May at Jakobsrud and advanced to Prestbakke and Torgelsrud where they remained. May 10 had to retreat closer to the border after Danish troops advanced. In the autumn of 1808, Västgötadal's regiment received orders about marching to Gävle and being shipped over to Finland on September 21. Due to storm, it was not possible to cross over to Finland but the regiment had to be taken to Åland where it remained over the winter.
