Description
BACKSTORY: Ashpine Asylum, once a sprawling 19th-century estate owned by reclusive industrialist Edgar Ashpine, was converted into a psychiatric facility after his mysterious disappearance in 1926. By the 1980s, the asylum is run by a secretive private medical group known as Orpheus Institute, allegedly under contract with the U.S. government for behavioral reconditioning. Patients, often labeled as “unfit” or “social threats,” are sent to Ashpine for rehabilitation. Some claim they never committed a crime. Others don't remember why they're there at all. Rumors from locals in the area are common, some whisper about "The Hollow Program" and how The Orpheus Institute is a front for a cult, but many of these claims are quickly dismissed.
