[Grenadier Guardꜱ] #15600536
Description
The British monarchy is a constitutional monarchy in which the monarch serves as the head of state, but the monarch's powers are limited by law and by convention. The current monarch of the United Kingdom is Queen Elizabeth II, who has been on the throne since 1952. The British monarchy has a long and rich history that stretches back over a thousand years. The role of the monarch has evolved over time, and today the monarch's duties are largely ceremonial and symbolic. The monarch acts as a unifying figure for the country and represents the United Kingdom on the world stage. The monarchy is supported by a range of institutions and officials, including the Royal Household, which manages the monarch's day-to-day affairs, and the Privy Council, which advises the monarch on matters of state. The monarch also has a number of ceremonial and symbolic roles, such as appointing government ministers and ambassadors, granting honors and awards, and opening and closing Parliament.
