Description
The Elizabeth County Transit Authority was established in September of 1967 as a requirement of the new county charter for the County of Elizabeth, which required an authority to oversee all public transportation and maintenance in the County of Elizabeth. Before the Elizabeth County Transit Authority, public transportation was served through contracts with private corporations, which had little to no oversight by the County of Elizabeth administratively. The Elizabeth County Transit Authority is responsible for public transportation and maintenance in the County of Elizabeth. Today, the Elizabeth County Transit Authority acts as the county-level transportation and maintenance agency of the County of Elizabeth.
