Description
The 1st Infantry Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Forces Armées Katangaises that was formed at the beginning of the attempt to gain independence from Leopldville in 1960. It was raised by Lieutenant-General Moïse Tshombe. The formation fought at the battle against Irish Forces and other UN Fighters. It then marched into Elisabethville and is now part of the Army of Occupation. ■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■ The 1st Infantry Battalion consists of two companies; the Tshombe Company is a regular light infantry battalion and the Honorary Company, which is an incremental company that undertakes public and ceremonial duties.
