The Foundation is split into several detachments, known as departments, each having a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations, with personnel being categorized in different clearance levels on a need-to-know basis. Despite its solemn mission of safeguarding the humanity, the Foundation is surrounded with enemy Groups of Interest (GOIs) determined to undermine it, seize its resources, and compromise its objectives.
