🌿 « Corpo da Guarda Real da Policia » The Military Division of the Royal Police Guard , or simply the Royal Police Guard ( GRP ), was a similar corporation of the military police corps created in Portugal and served in the cities of Lisbon and Porto , by the Prince Regent of Portugal D. João, and whose responsibility, in theory, would be to carry out ostensive policing and maintain public order throughout the colony, and later in the kingdom, of Brazil. Effectively, it concentrated its activities in the city of Rio de Janeiro , transformed into the capital of the Portuguese crown at that time.
