Description
The First Cohort of the Praetorian Guard was levied in the city of Rome itself. It consists of the most flexible and coordinated legionaries that the Guard has to offer, and are considered its elite legionaries. Where all others fail, the First Cohort successfully seeks out and conquers the enemies of the Emperor and the rivals of the Guard. It was founded in 2022, under the name of 'Exploratores'. Indicated by its name, the First was a Cohort comprising of the valued Exploratores, and the newly established Equites Singulares Augusti. The commander of this Cohort held the rank of Tribuni, while other Cohorts only had Centurions. Members of this Cohort had to truly prove themselves worthy in order to join, and with these strict enlistment criterias came great benefits. A relaxed uniform and terms policy was implemented for members of the First Cohort, as a trade-off for their strict battlefield expectations.
