Established in 1867, the Golden Valley County Sheriff’s Department stands as a cornerstone of law and order in the State of Stoneridge. Built during an era of pioneers and rugged frontier towns, the department was formed to bring stability, justice, and safety to a growing region. Over more than a century and a half, GVSD has adapted to changing times while remaining steadfast in its mission to serve and protect the people of Golden Valley County. Through professional law enforcement, corrections, emergency services, and strong community engagement, the department honors its historic legacy while meeting the demands of modern policing Motto: “One County.
