The Royal Prussian Army holds its roots in the mercenary forces of Brandenburg-Prussia who fought in the Thirty Years' War. Elector Frederick William developed it into a viable standing army, while Frederick William I of Prussia dramatically increased its size and improved its doctrines. Then, under the leadership of Frederick the Great, Prussia ascended from an insignificant state in the Baltics, to one of the most feared nations in all of Europe, contested only by Austria and, of course, France, by the of his death. After the reign of Frederick the Great, Prussia maintained its reputation for a good while until it started to become outdated, was defeated by France in the wars of the Coalitions, and submitted to French oppression time and time again. Until the war of the Sixth Coalition came. We are based in 1813, post-Leipzig.
