𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐒 ■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■ The Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) was Canada's military contribution to World War I. It was under the command of General Sir Sam Hughes initially. During the conflict, the CEF played a significant role in several major battles, including the Second Battle of Ypres (1915), where they faced the first large-scale use of poison gas on the Western Front. They also participated in the Battle of the Somme (1916), the Battle of Vimy Ridge (1917), and the Hundred Days Offensive (1918). The capture of Vimy Ridge, often seen as a turning point in the war, demonstrated the CEF's effectiveness. By the end of the war, the CEF had gained a reputation for their tenacity and bravery, and their contributions were vital to the overall Allied effort in World War I.
