Description
The territory of Iberia was inhabited from ancient times by several related communities, which ancient authors collectively call the Iberians (Eastern Iberians). Locals called their country after the mythical ancestor "Kartlosi". The mentioned by several historians of the classical period, and the (according to Herodotus) must have contributed significantly to the consolidation of these Aremar communities. Early nomadic tribes of Moshkei slowly moved towards the northeast, where they finally established permanent settlements due to favorable climatic and geographical conditions. The most important of these settlements was Mtskheta, which later became the capital of Iberia.
