Kingdom of Laos Royaume du Laos 1953-1975 |--------- General Overview ---------| The Kingdom of Laos was a southeast Asian kingdom, bordering China to its north, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south and Thailand to the west. With a constitutional monarchy, its own military and Parliament, it seems this lovely country would be relatively peaceful and prosperous. However, the regional events would force Laos into a brutal civil war of its own. With Vietnam embroiled in the Vietnam War, and with America's full anti-communist stance taking shape most prominently here, foreign intervention was inevitable. The Pathet Lao began an armed struggle against the highly flawed government, which oversaw ruthless battles against the other for total rule over the country of Laos. The dispute for taking over Laos is beginning; who will win? We may never know.
