Description

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐔𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐄 The Cohortes Urbanae (Urban Cohorts) were a special police and military force in ancient Rome responsible for maintaining order within the city of Rome itself. The Urban Cohorts were established by Emperor Augustus around 6 AD as part of his broader efforts to reorganize and improve the management of the Roman city and its security. They were introduced to complement the existing city watch and fire-fighting services.
