Description

The National Army is a branch of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova composed of the Air Force and the Land Forces. The General Staff (Marele Stat Major) was established on April 24, 1992 according to the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova No. 84-5. The General Staff performs the following activities: planning combat and other actions; maintaining and improving the combat and mobilization capacity of troops; operational combat and mobilization training. The Commander-in-Chief is recognised to be the president. The Minister of Defence is appointed by the Government and President.
