[The Office of the Inspector General] [Information] The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is an independent entity, established through a voter-approved amendment to the Los Angeles City Charter in 1995, charged with providing civilian oversight of the Los Angeles Police Department. The OIG is also responsible for conducting inspections on LAPD personnel, monitoring various investigations and reviewing complaints against LAPD employees. [Membership] In order to join the Office of the Inspector General, you are required to pass an OIG Inspector Tryout and complete the Inspector In-Training Program. [Requirements] You are required to be the rank of Officer+ in order to be apart of the Office of the Inspector General.
