𝟭𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐒 The 1st Regiment of Foot Guards can trace their origins back to 1656, when King Charles II raised men in the city of Bruges to protect him during his exile. The regiment performs a ceremonial role, but also takes its place on the battlefield as elite line infantry. 𝐄𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 Selective Conscription.
