Description

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was established in 1917, following the Russian Revolution. The USSR was a Marxist-Leninist state, and the first in the world to be based on this ideology. The country was initially governed by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), with Vladimir Lenin as its first leader. After Lenin's death in 1924, Joseph emerged as the new leader and oversaw a period of rapid industrialization and collectivization. Under Joseph's rule, the USSR became one of the world's most powerful states. However, Joseph's rule was also characterized by repression and terror. Millions of people were killed or imprisoned under his regime. In 1941, the USSR was invaded by Germany, and the USSR was forced to enter into a wartime alliance with the United States and Britain.
