Nylands Lätta Dragonregementе #16343251
Description
Raised in 1791 after a millitary reform by former King Gustaf III, the Nylands and Tavastehus Cavalry Regiment aswell as squadrons of the Karelian Dragoon corps merged to form the Nyland Light Dragoon Regiment. The regiment was raised in the province of Nyland and was one of the 2 finnish cavalry regiments that saw combat in the Finnish war of 1808-1809. The regiment fought at Pyhäjoki, Siikajoki and Lintulaks. At the battles of Paljakka-Sammalta and Oravais the regiment was pushed back to mainland Sweden, where it later capitulated at Kalix. Most of its members transferred to Russian or Swedish regiments.
